Guide to choosing the best contractor
for air conditioning Bournemouth

Why is air conditioning maintenance important? We can rely on air conditioning systems at home, within the workplace and throughout our day-to-day lives, and more often than not, we forget about them until something goes wrong! The pain of a broken system or needing to replace an air conditioner is unnecessary hassle to you or your business. We aim to take that pain away from you.

At Cooling Energy Services, we have helped many clients overcome issues with their systems which may have been avoided if they had regular aircon maintenance organised. We recently pulled together an air conditioning maintenance checklist which runs through some of the key checks you should be doing on your systems.

Why choose a contractor over ad-hoc maintenance and repairs?

By working with an air conditioning contractor in Bournemouth, you will have peace of mind knowing your air conditioning systems are in good hands. Your contractor will become experienced with your systems and will be able to diagnose any issues quickly.

A contracted air conditioning company will provide regular maintenance which is more effective in improving the longevity of the systems. This will likely reduce costs in the long run, as any issues can be identified early on and therefore can avoid larger breakages or problems which may lead to expensive repairs!

Regular maintenance provided by your selected partner also means you can ensure the systems are safe to operate and are in line with the Electricity at Work regulations.

Finally, air conditioning systems offer comfort for your customers and employees in your shop or office. Ensure you have a trusted partner in place to quickly deal with any issues and provide regular maintenance so you can avoid any potential downtime or disturbance.

What to look for in an air conditioning contractor in Bournemouth?

With a number of air conditioning professionals around, how can you ensure you choose the right partner for you?

There are a few key factors to consider when searching:

  • Qualifications & accreditations: There are many reputable associations which you should make sure your chosen partner has; these demonstrate that the company follows regulation standards and in particular, meets health and safety regulations. These may include CHAS, Safe Contractor and Construction Line.
  • Efficient processes: Air conditioning maintenance shouldn’t waste your time, therefore finding an air conditioning contractor in Bournemouth who works quickly and with minimal disturbance to your business is important.
  • Rigorous service: No two air conditioning systems are the same, and as such a professional air conditioning engineer should fully inspect your system ahead of quoting or carrying out any work.

Why choose CES as your air conditioning contractor?

At Cooling Energy Services, all our engineers hold F-Gas certification from Refcom and are Health & Safety accredited. We ensure our staff keep up to date with any health and safety training to ensure they, our clients and the site are safe during any inspections, installations and maintenance visits.

Air conditioning maintenance checklist

Neglecting necessary air conditioning maintenance may result in your AC units underperforming, using increased energy and in turn, costing you more money to operate.

To help avoid inefficiencies and issues, our expert air conditioning engineers would recommend you complete the following maintenance tasks on your AC system.

Weekly air conditioning maintenance tasks you can do yourself:

  • Give your front air vents a wipe using warm water and soap to keep the air vents clear of dirt. Regularly doing this will help reduce any build up which may be more difficult to remove.
  • Keep the outside areas around your units clear of debris such as leaves, garbage, and mud.

Read our article on air conditioning preventive maintenance you can do yourself >>

Monthly air conditioning maintenance tasks:

  • Keep an eye out for rust within the system – this can indicate excess water and/or elements that need replacing. It’s difficult to manage water/rainfall in certain environments, but there are certainly ways you can reduce the damage. Talk to our experts for more solutions >>
  • Record the temperature and pressures of your units on a monthly basis to ensure these are level and remain consistent. Over time this test will allow you to be able to notice when something is potentially off with the unit and may need professional attention.
  • Check the air filter for dirt, breakages, and deterioration. Please bear in mind in most air conditioning units this tends to need replacing on an annual basis due to its importance in the unit’s operation and output.
  • Check and calibrate the thermostat to ensure it’s recording correctly.
  • On an ad-hoc basis, we recommend keeping other heat-producing appliances away from indoor units, as this can interfere with the thermostat and make your systems work harder.

If you experience any issues, we offer a 24/7 callout service so we can get your air conditioning backup and running as soon as possible.

As the tasks become more difficult and complex, you are likely to require expert assistance and service. We would highlight the below annual tasks as ones a professional air conditioning engineers should perform.

Annual air conditioning maintenance checks:

  • Check the unit’s electrical wiring to ensure it is safe to use – If you are an employer, self-employed or a landlord, this is inline with the electrical safety regulations which ensure appropriate maintenance and care is taken with electrical appliances.
  • Clean and inspect the motors – dirty motors are less efficient and are likely to fail sooner. Also, check the motor lubrication which helps the motor to run smoothly.
  • Check the condenser coil and clean as required. Over their months and years of service, the coils collect dirt; this reduces the airflow and insulates the coil, which reduces its ability to absorb heat.
  • Inspect and adjust the belts and pulleys as they often become loose, crack or can break with age. Loose belts can decrease the airflow of your air conditioning systems and shorten the compressor’s life.
  • Condensate the drains as clogged drain channels prevent a unit from reducing humidity, this can result in excess moisture which may discolor walls or carpet.
  • Use a leak detector device to test for any leaks from the refrigerant and make sure any evacuated refrigerant from the system is captured and not illegally released to the atmosphere.

Full air conditioning maintenance package

At Cooling Energy Services, we understand that the above checks and tasks can be hard to keep on top and as result, we offer a range of affordable air conditioning maintenance packages for individuals, businesses, and contractors.

Our experienced engineers have worked with air conditioning systems of all types – the good, the bad and the ugly! We always provide the correct level of maintenance to suit your installed systems, this ensures you get the best out of your AC system without paying excessive, often over inflated maintenance charges.

What Air Conditioning Preventive Maintenance
should I do?

Air conditioning preventive maintenance when regularly conducted is a great way to help ensure the efficiency and longevity of your systems. As with most mechanical devices, there is maintenance you can do yourself and some that will require a professional air conditioning engineer to complete.

Over the years, the team here at Cooling Energy Services have helped many individuals to avoid costly issues by sharing their best tips and tricks on how to maintain the air conditioning units at their home or work.

Below are a selection of some of easiest and effective types of air conditioning preventive maintenance you can do.

What Air Conditioning Preventive Maintenance we would recommend:

  1. Keep the unit clean and clear of debris – Once a month, we recommend clearing debris such as leaves, pollen and twigs from the fan. A kitchen antiseptic spray tends to work well, just ensure to rinse with warm water and wait for it to dry before switching back on.
  2. Do an air flow check on both indoor and outdoor units – Make sure to keep around 2 feet of space clear around the units, as any obstacles in front of the units will likely diminish the air flow. If the air flow is still poor, you may have a failing fan motor or a blocked coil. This means it’s time to call for a professional checkup!
  3. Keep lamps or other heat producing products away – These may interfere with the thermostat and cause the system to work longer and harder than it may need to.
  4. Keep blinds and curtains closed – During the day keep curtains closed where possible to keep in or keep out heat, this will help you to use the air conditioning system more efficiently.
  5. Look out for rust – If you spot any rust on your unit, please call a professional for advice. Our expert engineers will be able to organise a check-up and provide a suitable solution for you.

What Air Conditioning Preventive Maintenance should I do?

When to hire a professional for Air conditioning maintenance:

When your air conditioner needs more than simple, routine maintenance, we recommend hiring an experienced engineer. With over 30 years experience, our team can provide expert advice on how best to resolve any issues and recommend suitable replacements. Our engineers can help you with any leaks, to optimise airflow, ensure the accuracy of the thermostat is correct, inspect electric terminals, clean and tighten connections and much more!

The ability to efficiently diagnose, install and maintain air conditioning systems in an affordable manner comes from years of industry exposure and experience. The boring but important stuff – these certifications aren’t here to look pretty! When choosing an air conditioning service company, you need to ensure they are licensed, approved and certified to carry out the services they offer.

At Cooling Energy Services, we are both Safecontractor and CHAS approved; these are recognised memberships which we have obtained to reassure clients of our safe working and the importance we place on health and safety whilst on site. Our established reputation and various memberships all contribute to ensuring that every job we complete is done safely and to a high standard.

Solutions that save you money

A quick fix may seem like a good idea at the time of an incident or fault, but a reputable air conditioning service company should recommend long-term solutions. When you have an effective solution in place and one that is maintained well, you are likely to avoid unexpected faults and therefore, save you and your business money in the long term!

We consider all available solutions in order to make an educated recommendation on the best systems for you.

Air Conditioning Heating Solutions

Are you fed up of waking up in a cold bedroom or working in a chilly office?

Prepare for winter with an efficient home, hotel, retail or office air conditioning heating unit.

Air conditioning units can often be a cheaper, more efficient option for quickly warming up space when compared to traditional central heating or night storage systems.

Over the years, with improved technology and increased demand, air conditioning heating systems have become much more effective and reliable, which in turn has meant running costs have been greatly reduced. With the modern and sleek designs of newer air conditioning models, such as Mitsubishi Heavy Industries wall-mounted split systems, they can be less intrusive and actually add style to a room rather than sticking out like a sore thumb!

Air con heating solutions

With 25 years experience, we know our team of qualified engineers can find the suitable solution dual-use air con unit or solution for you. Our bespoke air conditioner solutions allow us to plan, design and install an air con system that will look great and provide an ambient all-year-round temperature regardless of how cold or hot it is outside.

  • Fujitsu
  • Samsung

Most air conditioning heating units are low noise, environmentally friendly and come with a manufacturer’s warranty.

Easy to use

Most new air con units can be controlled via a remote and/or app, thereby allowing you to easily adjust settings, in some cases on the way to the office, or on your way return home. These simple controls allow you to use your unit more efficiently and reduce overall running costs.

Prepare for Winter with Air Conditioning Maintenance

With winter creeping in, the last thing you want is for your air conditioning systems to break. At Cooling Energy Services, we offer a winter maintenance service to make sure your systems are working efficiently and able to deliver the desired room temperature.

Our knowledgeable technicians are experienced in identifying and resolving the common problems that often occur when an air conditioning system is relied on to warm an area instead of cooling it.

Air conditioning maintenance visits

On a typical air conditioning maintenance trip during October to April, we will check the following using specialist equipment suited to air conditioning systems you have installed.

  1. Check the filters and replace them if needed
  2. Calibrate your thermostat and adjust the settings for the optimal environment
  3. Check for leaks and cover accordingly
  4. Clean the fans and vents

Top tips to help achieve optimal air con system performance

In addition to scheduled air conditioning maintenance, we recommend taking the following steps to make the most of your heating and cooling systems during the winter months :

  1. Make the most of the heat by keeping your south-facing curtains open during the day to allow in natural sunlight. Remember to close them at night to reduce the chill from the windows.
  2. Keep doors closed to conserve heat or coolant, and cover drafty windows or doors. In some cases, it’s hard to know where the breeze is coming from, so check windows for drafts and cover these with plastic tape on the inside or heavy duty plastic on the outside. For doors, place a blanket against the bottom of the door to help block the breeze.
  3. Don’t waste energy heating an empty house or office, so schedule your systems for when you are home!

Bournemouth Air Conditioning Solutions

As an air conditioning installer in the Bournemouth area, we work with companies of all sizes, ranging from local hospitals, retail stores and offices through to hotels and restaurants!

Recently, our Dorset air con specialists completed the installation of an air conditioning system in a popular Italian restaurant in Verwood.

Our air con installers are available at short notice and can work around the needs of the business.

Happy diners, whatever the weather

The restaurant was suffering from uncomfortably high internal temperatures during the heat waves in June/July and as such customer and staff complaints meant they needed to act fast. To rectify the situation the owners contacted our team and after an initial meeting, which included a site survey, Cooling Energy Services were chosen to install an air con system.

Being affordable and able to work in a manner that did not impact the operation of the business were key factors in the decision making process.

The air con solution we installed

The air conditioning solution we installed consisted of 2 Mitsubishi heavy industries AC split systems. These air conditioning systems are particularly suited to small to medium size commercial applications as they are reliable and offer energy efficiency, at an affordable price.

After the air conditioning installation was complete, the owners were able to welcome customers into their restaurant without fear of them overheating! The staff and customers were able to work and enjoy their meals in comfortable conditions.

Project Spotlight: Air Conditioning Bournemouth

Cooling Energy Services (CES) provide reliable, professional air conditioning services to individuals and businesses across Bournemouth, Dorset and Hampshire. In addition to servicing and maintaining existing air con systems, we are able to source and install air conditioning systems tailored your space and needs.

We recently installed a complete air conditioning solution for a small but busy kitchen area at a local Bournemouth hospital. The project required a quick turnaround and needed to be left in a ‘ready-to-use’ condition.

air conditioning bourenmouth

What air conditioning solutions were installed in the local Bournemouth hospital?

The space available to install a new system was minimal so we opted for a new Mitsubishi Electric 5.0kw split system. This air conditioning system benefits from being energy efficient and compact enough to be fitted within the interior of the kitchenette.

In order to keep disturbances to a minimum for the client, we made sure the kitchenette was left how we found it. We laid a new non-slip resistant flooring, installed LED lighting, fitted ceiling grid tiles and carried out all the necessary plumbing to accommodate the dishwasher and stainless steel sinks. We also reassembled all the stainless steel work surfaces to give the kitchenette the same fresh, clean look as before the work was done.

Finally, we performed numerous tests and checked all the equipment to allow for optimal operation. On completion of the project, we were within budget and timescales and made sure the clients were happy with the final result.

At Cooling Energy Services, we are experts at providing air conditioning solutions for commercial spaces that are within specified budgets and timescales.

The Importance of Air Conditioning Maintenance

In most circumstances, a poorly maintained air conditioning system will require an increased amount of energy to operate and therefore be more costly to run.

To reduce running costs and provide the appropriate level of comfort for your customers and staff, and for the preservation of products, manufacturers recommend air conditioning units receive a routine service at least twice a year.

Avoid unexpected downtime with regular air conditioning servicing and maintenance.

To ensure your air conditioning systems are working optimally, Cooling Energy Services are able to provide Bournemouth residents and businesses with monthly, quarterly or even annual air conditioning maintenance.

Correct maintenance should reduce operating costs, help to maintain the quality of the outputted air and can prolong the lifespan of the system.
